Chocolate Cake:

  1. Heat oven and prepare cake mix according to package directions.
  2. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased and floured 10-inch (about 12 cups) fluted tube pan.

Ricotta Ribbon Layer:

  1. Beat the ricotta, sugar, egg, milk, cornstarch and vanilla in a bowl until smooth and creamy. Carefully spread ricotta mixture evenly over cake batter, taking care not to overmix. Gently top with remaining cake batter.
  2. Bake according to package directions for Bundt cake or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 30 minutes in pan before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

  1. Combine glaze ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted. Cool slightly. Spoon over cake.

Recipe Tip

The additional ingredients (eggs, oil and water) and preparation instructions vary per brand of cake mix. The specific ingredients needed, amounts of each and directions for making a Bundt cake are on the back of the box.

Cheesemonger Tip

Do you have questions when shopping for cheese? Ask the cheesemonger! A cheesemonger specializes in the buying and selling of high-quality cheese, usually available in the specialty section of a grocery store or cheese shop. Knowledgeable and passionate, a cheesemonger is a go-to resource for cheese varieties and pairings, proper cheese storage and handling, its cooking applications and cheese brand information.

You can't go wrong with choosing a superior ricotta cheese when baking. Whole milk ricotta offers rich, fresh dairy flavor and creaminess to baked goods.
