Rustic Blue Cheese and Nutty Pear Tart

Look for the Proudly Wisconsin Badge when shopping for cheese. Any brand of Wisconsin Blue can be used in this recipe.

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the walnuts, brown sugar and flour in a bowl. Add blue cheese. Season with pepper. Gently toss walnut mixture. Set aside 1/4 cup mixture.
  3. Gently toss the pears, lemon zest and lemon juice in a large bowl. Add remaining walnut mixture; gently toss to combine.
  4. Roll out pie pastry on a lightly floured surface into a 13-inch circle. Transfer pastry to prepared pan. Spoon pear mixture into the center of pastry to within 2 inches of edges. Fold pastry edges up over filling. (Center will be uncovered.)
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until filling is bubbly and crust is light golden brown. Sprinkle with reserved walnut mixture. Bake for 5-10 minutes longer or until walnuts begin to brown.
