Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream butter and sugars in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in another bowl; gradually add to butter mixture. Fold in chocolate chips.
  3. Spread two-thirds of the dough into a greased 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Whisk the mascarpone, egg and confectioners' sugar in a small bowl; spread over dough. Dot spoonfuls of remaining dough over top.
  4. Press pretzels into dough. Bake for 28-32 minutes or until center is set and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. (Do not overbake.) Immediately, lightly press M&M's into top. Cool completely. Refrigerate overnight.

Toppings:

  1. Melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl on 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Drizzle with chocolate. Sprinkle with candy cane pieces. Allow chocolate to set before cutting into bars.

Cheesemonger Tip

Do you have questions when shopping for cheese? Ask the cheesemonger! A cheesemonger specializes in the buying and selling of high-quality cheese, usually available in the specialty section of a grocery store or cheese shop. Knowledgeable and passionate, a cheesemonger is a go-to resource for cheese varieties and pairings, proper cheese storage and handling, its cooking applications and cheese brand information.

In Wisconsin, mascarpone cheese consistently wins top honors in national competitions. It has a creamy, smooth texture and a decadent, buttery and slightly sweet flavor.
