Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 450°F.
  2. Roll out and stretch pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a 17 x 12-inch rectangle. Transfer dough to a greased 15 x 10-inch baking pan; let excess dough hang over edges of pan.
  3. Place string cheese around edges of pan. Fold dough over cheese; press to seal.
  4. Spread pizza sauce on dough. Sprinkle with mozzarella and provolone. Top with the pepperoni, olives and fresh mozzarella.
  5. Bake for 15-17 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly. Top with basil. Cool slightly before serving.

The string cheese pieces measured about 4 1/2-inches long.

Cheesemonger Tip

Select for cheesemonger info

Do you have questions when shopping for cheese? Ask the cheesemonger! A cheesemonger specializes in the buying and selling of high-quality cheese, usually available in the specialty section of a grocery store or cheese shop. Knowledgeable and passionate, a cheesemonger is a go-to resource for cheese varieties and pairings, proper cheese storage and handling, its cooking applications and cheese brand information.

Mozzarella and provolone cheeses are crafted with the same stretchy techniques, but provolone is made with whole milk and has different cultures. Provolone has a buttery flavor with just a hint of sharpness or more, depending on age.
