Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 425°F. Line a 15 x 10-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles pea-sized crumbs.
  3. Toss in the alpine style, prosciutto and green onions. Whisk 3/4 cup cream and egg in a small bowl; add to flour mixture just until moistened and a dough forms.
  4. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead just to combine. Shape dough into an 8-inch circle, about 3/4-inch thick. Cut into eight wedges.
  5. Transfer wedges to prepared pan. Cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Brush dough with remaining cream.
  6. Bake for 22-24 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with butter.

Cheesemonger Tip

Do you have questions when shopping for cheese? Ask the cheesemonger! A cheesemonger specializes in the buying and selling of high-quality cheese, usually available in the specialty section of a grocery store or cheese shop. Knowledgeable and passionate, a cheesemonger is a go-to resource for cheese varieties and pairings, proper cheese storage and handling, its cooking applications and cheese brand information.

Saxon® Saxony Alpine Style cheese is made with summer milk. An American take on traditional alpine-style cheese, it has a nutty taste with just a hint of hazelnut and sweet butterscotch notes on the finish.
